Ted Cruz’ College Roommate (Still) Ripping Him A New Orifice

LiberalAmerica’s own Liz Lee posted several weeks ago about how Ted Cruz’ college roommate was eviscerating the Presidential hopeful on Twitter. It was funny at the time, but since then, Craig Mazin — writer for Scary Movie 3 and 4 and The Hangover 2 and 3 — has maintained a relentless assault on Cruz…and it’s only getting better.

“Backpfeifengesicht,” if you’re wondering, is pronounced “Back-five-en-gez-eesht.” It means a face that should be slapped. Interestingly, Mazin also tweeted about a neurologist who has a…striking…theory about why exactly Cruz’ face really is that contemptible: he doesn’t show emotion in the same way that our brains expect human faces to.

That New York Times article, by the way, is worth a read. “Cruz manufactures an atmosphere of menace in which there is no room for compassion, for moderation, for anything but dismantling and counterattack. And that is what he offers. Cruz’s programmatic agenda, to the extent that it exists in his speeches, is to destroy things…

All this Twitter warfare started (again) when Ted Cruz’ college roommate noticed that he suddenly had a much larger follower base than he had before he started his anti-Cruz rants:

And finally, we’ll bring this to a close with the one truly valuable insight that Mazin’s epic ranting has given us — via Slate:

These people…aren’t stupid. They work in the thick of conservative politics. What confounds their ability to understand Cruz isn’t ideology or intelligence. It’s artifice. Normal people can’t sustain a façade of earnestness for months. Normal people don’t lecture others about good faith while lying and conspiring. To live a sane life, you have to assume that the people with whom you interact are, to some extent, real. York, George, Baier, and Van Susteren are normal. Cruz is not.

It’s quite possible that no one outside of his immediate family knows just how “not real” Ted Cruz is — but if there’s anyone who can give us a proper insight, is a dude who spent months and months sharing a room with the man. Thanks, Craig Mazin, for taking the hit and sharing the dirt — we all need to know just what kind of a man it is we’re making fun of.
