Flint Gets Relief From Cher During Water Crisis

Cher is doing what she can in a magnanimous effort to help those affected by the water crisis in Flint, Michigan.  The veteran star of song and film is donating 180,000 bottles of water. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has made national news as Flint residents continue to be poisoned by toxic lead levels in a water deal Snyder signed off on in 2014.

Cher Partners With Icelandic Glacial To Get Water To Flint Residents

Cher’s donation is the result of partnership with Icelandic Glacial.  Cher pledged support in a press release:

“I am so grateful that Icelandic Glacial has come on-board to help the city of Flint. I cannot wait for the water to get there to help these people who have been poisoned because the water they’ve been getting out of their taps has been polluted for so long.”

State Of Emergency Finally Sanctioned For City Of Flint

The situation is so bad that on Saturday President Obama declared a federal emergency in Flint. The city has 100,000 residents who have been discouraged from using tap water for cooking, drinking, or bathing. Many don’t have other options.

Cher’s Water Donations Will Help Many Community Members

Cher’s donation will ship out  Monday and should arrive in Flint by Wednesday.  According to the press release, donations will go to low-income housing areas in Flint. They will also be distributed among community centers, fire houses, and food banks.

Snyder Has To Go!

There are petitions being circulated calling for the immediate firing of Gov. Snyder. What has happened in the city of Flint is a travesty. Clean drinking water is a basic human need and a right. That so many have been disingenuous around the water issue working to cover up the truth is heartbreaking. It’s also irresponsible of elected city and state officials.

Thank You Cher

Cher’s efforts will make a difference to a lot of people whose basic need for clean water has been denied and ignored for far too long.
