Ted Cruz Responds To SOTU Speech With Classic Denial In Facebook Video

The practice of Republicans turning a deaf ear to anything President Obama has to say is nothing new. Republicans literally ignoring what they hear and creating their own false narrative is nothing new either. So when Ted Cruz posted a Facebook video in response to Obama’s final SOTU speech, it was no surprise that he was in total denial in regards to what Obama said.

In the Facebook video, Cruz seems to be fascinated with Obama’s “failure” to use the term, “radical Islamic terrorism.” Cruz actually made this statement:

“I will apologize to nobody for my commitment to kill the terrorists. In this speech, once again President Obama refused to even say the words, “radical Islamic terrorism.” Much less demonstrate any clarity, any vision, any plan to destroy them. He diminished the threat of ISIS.”

Evidently in Cruz-land, if President Obama just speaks the words, we can win the war on terror. I hate to imagine what other brilliant ideas Cruz would have in solving complex issues if he became president. Granted, President Obama did not use the term, “radical Islamic terrorism.” He did have this to say though:

“Priority number one is protecting the American people and going after terrorist networks. Both Al-Qaeda, and now ISIL, pose a direct threat to our people, because in today’s world even a handful of terrorists, who place no value on human life, including their own, can do a lot of damage. They use the internet to poison the minds of individuals inside our country. Their actions undermine and destabilize our allies. We have to take them out.”

Now when President Obama speaks of Al-Qaeda and ISIL, I would hope Cruz knows that they are made up of “radical Islamic terrorist.” I’m pretty sure the American people know that he is not referring to Mormons, which is another disturbing thought in itself. Also, using the term will not magically change their ideology.

Cruz went on to criticize the president for not speaking about specific terrorist attacks. This led him to say:

“I think the American people they’re tired of having a president who will not even acknowledge the evil that we’re facing, much less do anything serious to stop it. We need a president who will defeat radical Islamic terrorism. And I think Americans don’t understand why President Obama and Hillary Clinton, they put their heads in the sand like ostriches rather than acknowledging the threat of jihadists that want to murder us.”

To this I would have to refer Cruz to the before mentioned quote from President Obama. It’s like Cruz didn’t even listen. Also, bringing Clinton into the mix seems like a strategic political move. Could someone be worried?

The list of quotes I could mention to counter Cruz’s delusional selective hearing would make this article 2,000 words. So for those who actually cared to watch already know. For those that are content in being ignorant and following the lead of “Fox News” soundbites, the full speech is below. Hopefully there will be some that choose to think for themselves and form their own opinions based on fact.
