Fundamentalist Christian Jerk Leaves Dirty Trick As Tip For Waiter

Garrett Wyman is a good kid from Wichita, Kansas, who works hard as a waiter in a restaurant. He recently thought one of his customers had left him a nice $20 tip, but instead it turned out to be a note from a Christian fundamentalist who thinks Garrett needs to read the Bible. Here’s what Wyman posted on Twitter:

When you open what is supposed to be a $20 bill, a message reads:  “Don’t be fooled! There is something you can have more valuable than money.”

Yeah, thanks a whole hell of a lot, dillhole. This kid has bills to pay!

The fake twenty also has this bit of preaching on it:

“Things and people will disappoint you. Nothing in this world will really satisfy. That is because there is a void in your life that can only be filled by God, who created you.”

How does this monumental asshat who got a young man’s hopes up only to dash them know that Wyman isn’t a Christian who reads the Bible faithfully and is in church anytime the doors are open? Wyman himself said:

“I’m 17-years-old, $7,000 in debt because I had to buy myself a car, juggling full-time school, and working seven days a week.”

Naturally, when this hard-working waiter saw what he thought was a generous tip, he was overjoyed because that kind of gratuity is rare:

“He just left that. I wanted to tell him that I only make $3 an hour and bust my ass at my job to make way less than I deserve, but he was gone by the time I had the chance to.”

What bothers me the most about this incident is that the customer could have truly blessed Garrett Wyman by leaving a real twenty on the table along with his religious message. He could have been a true Christian–one who is caring, giving, wanting to help others–but instead he chose to play a dirty trick on someone who served him and did his job.

As my grandmother used to say, People like that are gonna bust hell wide open!
