Justin Trudeau Tweets Star Wars Teaser After Surprising Hospitalized Children

Canadian Prime Minister and Liberal hero Justin Trudeau recently tweeted a Star Wars teaser after surprising 20 patients from the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario with tickets to an advanced screening of the new movie.

Walt Disney Studios Canada announced their decision to offer Trudeau a private screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens over Twitter and, although the reason behind this offer is still unclear, it seems that the generous decision to extend this invite to CHEO patients was all Trudeau’s idea.

Len Hanes, director of communications for the CHEO Foundation has spoken out about how they “were quite excited to get the call” extending the private screening invite to patients despite it being very unexpected. Len said that inviting some of the children from the hospital must have been “the first thing he thought of” and expressed his gratitude toward Trudeau, stating:

“Obviously we’re happy he thought of the kids at CHEO and it was a wonderful thing for him to do.”

The children were all under 17 years of age and looked ecstatic as they excitedly accompanied Trudeau to the private screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Tuesday at the Cineplex Cinemas Lansdowne Movie Theatre in Ottawa.

Following the screening, self confessed “big Star Wars fan” Trudeau tweeted about the movie providing a Star Wars teaser for everyone else:

“Just saw #TheForceAwakens with friends from the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Spoiler: It was amazing!”

In addition to labelling the new movie as “amazing” Trudeau urged all Star Wars fans to go and see it “as soon as you can” in order to avoid spoilers.

It seems that the highly anticipated new movie did not disappoint Star Wars fan Trudeau as he also stated:

“I’m very confident that this new iteration of it is going to make everybody very, very happy.”
