Sarah Palin And Donald Trump Are Popular With This (Un)Surprising Demographic

There have been times when you’ve undoubtedly listened to a speech from Donald Trump, Sarah Palin or Ted Cruz and wondered “who in the world is voting for these people?”

CNN wondered the same thing, since the news network just did a deep dive into the poll numbers for the five GOP front runners in the upcoming presidential election and found, among other things, that Donald Trump is quite popular with the lower-income, less-educated members of the voting public.

These findings aren’t new, as this seems to confirm an earlier poll which showed the less affluent and less educated are big fans of The Donald. These demographics look similar to the voters who loved Sarah Palin, back when she was a thing. Now the former Alaska governor is basically a political pundit who goes out of her way to say crazy things these days, although she was popular enough to become John McCain’s running mate during the 2004 presidential election.

Donald Trump is likely going to need to lean heavily on this largely uneducated voting bloc in order to take the nomination. The poll also showed the New York-based tycoon isn’t exactly garnering the youth vote. When talking about the people most likely to vote for Donald Trump, the age group that supports him the most are those between the ages of 51 and 64. None of the findings in this latest poll should be all that surprising. It’s been known for quite a while that the higher the voter’s education, the more likely a voter will lean towards the Democrats.

The big question for the 2016 presidential race is going to be whether or not Donald Trump can get enough of his fervent supporters out to the polls.
