Most of us use Google each and every day. Sure, other search engines have come along and tried to challenge Google’s supremacy as the search engine the world turns to (i.e. Bing), but Google is still number one and shows no signs of relinquishing their status anytime soon.

At this time each year, Google is kind enough to give us a list of the most searched items for the calendar year, and here’s what 2015 looked like. The Top 10 list for the United States goes like this:

  1. Lamar Odom
  2. Jurassic World
  3. American Sniper
  4. Caitlyn Jenner
  5. Ronda Rousey
  6. Paris
  7. Agar.io
  8. Chris Kyle
  9. Fallout 4
  10. Straight Outta Compton

Google also gave us a very cool graphic showing the search volume and life cycle of the year’s biggest news stories. It’s pretty dang awesome:

When we get to worldwide searches for 2015, the list looks somewhat different:

  1. Lamar Odom
  2. Charlie Hebdo
  3. Agar.io
  4. Jurassic World
  5. Paris
  6. Furious 7
  7. Fallout 4
  8. Ronda Rousey
  9. Caitlyn Jenner
  10. American Sniper

Google also provided a video that explains some of what was hot in 2015, and it also has some interesting information:

I have to admit, I’m more than a little surprised that the top search worldwide for the year was Lamar Odom. Apparently we have now officially been conquered by reality shows and gossip. Kind of a sad commentary on society, wouldn’t you agree?

2016 is just around the corner. Search on, everyone!
