Is The Confederate Flag Really About Historical Sentiment To This A$$hole?

It is difficult to sympathize with anyone who holds the Confederate flag as a sentimental reverence of their heritage when there are nut-jobs, like this winner, plaguing our country.

Since Dante (last name kept anonymous) moved his family into their New Market, Maryland home last year, he has been faced with a “nonstop campaign of harassment” by his neighbor, Shaun Porter

In addition to displaying the Confederate flag on all three of his vehicles and on his lawn, Porter threatens neighbors by brandishing “military style weapons in his front windows.”

Neighbors shared with a local news station a photo of Porter with his teenage son “engaged in hours-long demonstration” right on their front yard.

The photo revealed the two standing with pro-Carson, defund-Planned Parenthood signs, and multiple Confederate flags behind them. The two also used the flag as bandannas covering most of their faces and each holding two separate Confederate flags in their hands.

After the homeowners’ association requested Porter remove his Confederate flags, Porter put up a sign in his front yard with “eat sh*t” plastered next to blown up images of the board members’ faces.

Dante is reasonably concerned with Porter’s actions as they have now become a “direct attack” on Dante when Porter recently spray-painted on the side of his truck, “f*ck Dante.”

Dante has contacted 911 so many times about Porter’s racial harassment that the 911 operators immediately know what he’s calling about.

The police have responded to the very “direct attack” on Dante by providing “round-the-clock patrols” and interviewing neighbors. If they can collect enough evidence, police may charge Porter with criminal harassment, and possibly a hate crime.

With multiple neighbors also reporting the bigotry of this Confederate flag waving a$$hole, I doubt this is just your average neighborly spat. For Dante, this experience has become a nightmare.

Dante stated,

My family, in 2015, should not be subject to a hate crime…it’s absolutely ridiculous…I feel like I’m living in the 50s.

No one should feel like Dante does, after all it is 2015. Though it is 2015, racism and bigotry permeates our country. There are so many people out there who, like Porter, we need to be extra vigilant about.
