Trump Wins Popularity Contest – Over 450K Brits Signed Petition

It seems the only thing popular about Trump in Britain is the opinion that he is an idiot.

Out of the various responses to Donald Trump’s proposal to ban all muslims from entering America, the collective response of the British public is arguably the best.

Brits may be notorious for their overly polite ways but the one thing that they really struggle to tolerate is an idiot. That is why they decided to give Trump a little taste of his own medicine and start a petition to ban him from the UK.

The petition, which was started by an ingenius woman named Suzanne Kelly, reached 100,000 signatures in less than 24 hours and it has since gained more signatures at an alarmingly rapid pace.

Despite the petition being created less than 72 hours ago it has already been signed by almost half a million British citizens, myself included, who simply do not want Trump and his opinions anywhere near them.

The petition itself reads:

“The signatories believe Donald J Trump should be banned from UK entry.

The UK has banned entry to many individuals for hate speech. The same principles should apply to everyone who wishes to enter the UK.

If the United Kingdom is to continue applying the ‘unacceptable behaviour’ criteria to those who wish to enter its borders, it must be fairly applied to the rich as well as poor, and the weak as well as powerful.”

In the UK any petition that receives over 10,000 signatures cannot be ignored by the government and if a petition manages to reach over 100,000 signatures then it is considered for debate in parliament.

Judging by the amount of signatures that this particular petition has already received it is extremely likely that British MPs will have little option but to at least discuss the notion of preventing Trump from crossing British borders.

Trump himself recently tweeted about Britain’s attempt to ban him from the country and, in response to a tweet from fan Piers Morgan, stated that those who have signed the petition “don’t know what they are getting into.”
