Florida Pastor Fights LGBT Rights In The Most Idiotic Way Possible

So here’s a major facepalm for your mid-week: a Florida pastor has taken anti-LGBT rights ignorance to the next level by wearing long wigs in public and by threatening to use women’s washrooms.

Kenneth Adkins has made his ridiculous crusade against LGBT rights very public, and posts his silly exploits on his facebook page.

His idea being, I suppose, that by looking like a total goofball, he will expose what he considers to be the ridiculousness of the LGBT rights movement, such as transgender women being able to pee in the women’s washroom. But he fails spectacularly: all he ends up revealing is that he is a total goofball.

Here is another one of his fabulous “transgender” hairdos:

Along with this photo, Adkins posts:

“I am gonna “pee” next to your women in the women’s bathroom and let’s see how yall feel.”

Wow. That’s some rough stuff. I am tempted to feel sorry for Adkins for his inability to understand that gender is a construct, if he weren’t being such a complete a-hole to a seriously vulnerable population. Along with his ignorance about transgender folks (or gender queer folks, or non-cis folks) comes a vague threat to make women feel uncomfortable in public washrooms.

For some reason, people like Adkins think that women are threatened or are fearful of having a transgender woman in a washroom stall next to them. I can only speak for myself, but I would hazard to guess that other women feel the same:

I am not concerned about transgender women sharing a washroom with me. What frightens me is when these neo-fascist neanderthals think that they can throw on a wig and waltz into the women’s washroom in order to make some idiotic political point. Those are the people that I don’t want my children being exposed to.

Adkins’ point, if I am being incredibly charitable, is that my reaction to him whipping his junk around in a women’s washroom while wearing a cheap wig is the same as the reaction I would have to have a trans woman peeing with dignity in the stall next to mine. Nope, not even close: one is a sex crime, one is a person emptying her bladder of the 16 oz latte she drank earlier.

A person has to wonder why Adkins is so obsessed with people’s genitals, and with the idea of gender fluidity. Or why he is so concerned with women having penises:

Let that one sink in a bit. First of all, women’s washrooms don’t have urinals. Second of all, they only have stalls. Thirdly, why in the f**k does he think parents want their children to see other people peeing in a public washroom at all?

This kind of nonsense rhetoric against LGBT rights is indicative of a larger issue: usually either latent homosexuality or a neo-conservative (and religious-based) divorce from reason. In either case, Adkins is the one to be feared, not the folks demanding LGBT rights.
