San Bernardino Police Officer: ‘I’ll Take A Bullet Before You Do’ (VIDEO)

The San Bernardino, Calif. police officer who stated these 7 simple words, “I’ll take a bullet before you do,” is being hailed as a hero from Wednesday’s mass shooting at the Inland Regional Center (IRC).

The IRC’s customer service coordinator, Gaby Flores, had the courage to take a close to 3-minute video of the police evacuating her and a group of her co-workers. As a result, Flores captured this single police officer doing his job — protecting those he serves.

This hero officer can be heard just moments earlier asking another officer “Are you ready?” This question was followed with a few seconds of silence, then you can hear the officer stating  “If you’re not cool, I’m not walking them, dude.”

As the employees of the IRC began walking down the hall with their hands raised above their head, the officer attempted to reassure them by stating,

Try to relax. Everyone just try to relax. I’ll take a bullet before you do, that’s for damn sure. Just stay cool, okay?”

During such a horrific event, and what is being called “the deadliest mass shooting since Sandy Hook,” it is comforting to know that the victims were being treated with such care. In a time when we constantly hear about the multiple officers who are shooting and killing individuals, it is encouraging to hear stories about officers who are protecting lives.
