Can You Count How Many Trumpisms Are In This Insane Speech?

In Sarasota, Florida, Republican Candidate and current primary front-runner Donald Trump, while awkwardly wearing a bright red baseball cap with the slogan “Make America Great Again” written across it, fired back at the New York Times.

It all started at a rally earlier this week, Trump appeared to have mocked the physical disability of a New York Times writer named Serge Kovaleski.

Kovaleski suffers from a severe chronic condition called arthrogryposis, a disease that limits movement in both of Kovaleski’s arms. Here’s video of Trump mocking times reporter.

At the rally in Sarasota, Trump said:

“I think the New York Times, frankly, should give me an apology.”

This elicited wild applause from Trump supporters. Trump continued:

“Who else is going to take on the New York Times? I don’t care. I don’t care. They’ll probably be out of business pretty soon.”

Trump accused Kovaleski of backing down from the story he wrote for the Washington Post in 2001. In the article, Kovaleski reported that local authorities investigated claims that Muslims in New Jersey were witnessed celebrating the 9/11 terrorist attacks. What Trump failed to mention was that authorities found no evidence of any celebrations carried out by “thousands and thousands” of Muslims following the 9/11 attacks.

Trump accused Kovaleski on Thursday of “grandstanding” and blowing things out of proportion. He said:

“This reporter is so happy. Because people have heard of him now. Nobody ever heard of the guy.”

Kovaleski said he stands by his original article. Both local law enforcement and government officials in the area refute Trump’s insane claims. Trump went on to say:

“I took a lot of heat about a reporter. And what really happened? I think it’s important for me to say.”

Trump also said that he was mimicking the times reporter groveling, and not mocking his physical disability. Trump said:

“I was talking about groveling. A reporter is groveling because he took back the statement that he wrote 14 years ago.”

Trump tried to dismiss the situation with humor saying:

“I don’t mock people. I don’t mock people. I don’t mock people that have problems. I don’t mock people that have problems, believe me,” he said. “Now, people mock me with my hair…”

Trump continued to double down on his insane claim. He said:

“I talked about Muslims celebrating in New Jersey. And everyone knows it’s true … people saw. So I made that statement. I didn’t think it was a big deal because I thought everybody knew,” adding that, “everybody admits worldwide, Muslims were absolutely going wild.”
