Fear In Florida: KKK Spread Leaflets Encouraging Gay Bashing

A group of individuals identifying as the KKK have recently distributed leaflets around Jacksonville, Florida in a bid to encourage people to “support gay bashing.”

These individuals are referring to themselves as the “Loyal White Knights of the KKK” and seem to be the latest hate group rearing their head and advertising the KKK after a series of other leaflets have been distributed in both Louisana and Alabama earlier this year.

The headline of the distributed leaflets read “stop aids, support gay bashing” followed by:

“Homosexual men and their sexual acts are disgusting and inhuman. Ban non-white immigration. Outlaw Haitians. Deport Mud People.”

Individuals living in the Jacksonville area began posting images of the flyers which according to sources had “begun to appear at the homes of LGBT people – and surely others – in Jacksonville” to social media sites for the world to see.

Ramdial, a Jacksonville resident living in a largely Mandarin populated area, stated that she witnessed the flyers being thrown onto the people’s properties in her neighbourhood. An upset Ramdial stated:

“I saw a truck go by, throwing things in people’s yards and saw what it was and it was extremely offensive. A flyer asking people to join the KKK. We were worried at first, because we’re an interracial couple and didn’t know if we were being targeted.”

This response appears to be in protest of the city’s discussion to put the Jacksonville Human Rights Ordinance, a non-discrimination act which will protect members of the LGBT community, in place.

Jimmy Midyette, the legislative director for the Jacksonville Coalition of Equality, has spoken out about the flyers and stated that the distribution of them is:

“an unfortunate consequence of our recent success. Both with marriage equality and the progress we’re making on equality in Jacksonville, we sadly can expect the vocal minority to freak out.”
