When Ryan Landry adopted Bruno back in March of this year, he was told by the organization that he could bring the dog back at any time – no questions asked. Instead, Landry took an unexpected and cruel route when he lost interest in Bruno.

At first, Landry tried to get rid of the dog by posting on Facebook. He called Bruno a “great dog in need of a great home” and claimed the dog was “great with other animals and with kids.”

When nobody showed interest, Landry took Bruno into the woods and shot him to death.

Some time later, a resident of the area found Bruno’s body while walking in the woods. Disgusted and disturbed by what he saw, the man decided to take pictures and post them on Facebook. Warning – the images you’ll see by clicking here are graphic! Bruno was shot two times in the back and probably suffered greatly before he finally succumbed to his injuries. Spent bullets were found nearby.

When confronted, Landry didn’t deny his dirty deed. He claimed Bruno left him with “no choice” and that the dog he said was “great with kids” had actually bitten three children.

Even if Bruno was a dangerous dog, that’s no reason to take him into the woods and leave him to die alone. All Landry needed to do was find a shelter and take Bruno there. There are a million humane things he could’ve done.

Will Landry pay for this horrible crime? The police say no. It turns out that shooting a dog to death isn’t illegal in New Hampshire. In response to Bruno’s story, outraged animal lovers and activists made an online petition to urge politicians to make a change.
