The principal of Glen Allen High School in Richmond, Virginia, has had to apologize after a racist song was played over the loud speakers at a football game with a visiting team from a predominately black high school.

Former football player Lucas Harris recalls that he was at Glen Allen High School for the homecoming game when he heard a racist parody of the theme song from the Disney animated series DuckTales:

“At first, I was wondering if I heard that right. We were all very offended, all very surprised.”

The song, which was allegedly created by The Red Bar Radio Show, is full of racist stereotypes and also includes more a dozen uses of the N-word in one minute. The song was reportedly played during the team warm-up period, and stayed on for some 15 seconds.

The tune is so offensive that a video of the parody has been removed from YouTube multiple times for violating rules against hate speech.

Here is a sample of the lyrics from the offensive song:

“I hate f*cking n****rs / n****rs suck d*ck / Look at n****rs trying to raise money / But they can’t ’cause they spend all their money / They’re n****rs and they’re so f*cking n****rs / I hate them.”

On Saturday, Glen Allen High School Principal Gwen E. Miller issued a written statement in which she apologized to John Marshall High School:

“We regularly review play lists, and I am at a loss as to how such a song was included. Please know this unfortunate incident does not reflect the broader Glen Allen High School community. We are a diverse and inclusive community and are appalled that the instigator of this event has sent a message contrary to our beliefs and practices.”
