Well, too bad for the non-Christians. Evangelist to the presidents, Billy Graham’s, predictive book, “Where I Am: Heaven, Eternity and Our Life Beyond,” says they will go to a “fiery hell,” not just a plain old hell. That means God must really dislike people whose faith does not include Jesus.

I wonder what people did to p*ss off God. There are legions of religious people that Graham’s book would send to the fiery pit – those include:

“Baha’i, Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism,Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Shinto, Sikhism, Taoism, and Zoroastrianism.”

In what he claims is his last book, the elder Graham stands firm on his hell fire and damnation rant. Graham’s son, Franklin, commented:

“One of his concerns was that hell and heaven were being distorted by Hollywood. And you have these films that have come out and books and so forth about heaven or hell. And my father wanted people to know what the Bible has to say about them.”

In a chapter titled “Forever Separated and Forever United,” the elder Graham believes individuals can choose to not heed the Bible; If they choose not to, they will end up in an:

“…unending death in a lake of fire and brimstone that burns forever.”

That sounds a little harsh. Graham says:

“God does not send unrepentant souls into the pit of darkness; those souls choose their destiny.”

Since the Bible has never been under copyright, Graham lifted whole verses throughout his book. Here are a few examples of how the old evangelist views heaven and hell:

HEAVEN

“Heaven captures the imagination, but it is not an imaginary place. It is not a fantasyland in which to dwell. It is not a place one can travel to and come back again — at least not in our earthbound life. Heaven is a literal place.”

HELL

“The worst kind of death is described in Scripture — unending death in a lake of fire and brimstone that burns forever. Just as we cannot fathom the wonder of living forever in glory, we cannot possibly comprehend the alternative.”

“You may wonder what Hell is really like. Don’t look to comedians for answers. The Bible tells you the truth. Hell is a place of sorrow and unrest, a place of wailing and a furnace of fire; a place of torment, a place of outer darkness, a place where people scream for mercy; a place of everlasting punishment.”

Graham says this is his final book, but he plans to live until he is 100, so I wouldn’t hold him to it. I just hope that his profound interest in hell doesn’t send him there. I have to admire the old guy for writing yet another book at age 96. On the other hand, I could live a long time without reading it, maybe forever.
