John Boehner Began His Resignation Press Conference By Singing. Guess What Song?


House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has offered his resignation notice. He’ll be leaving Congress at the end of October. I’m not convinced that’s entirely a great thing for us. Which dummy will replace him? At any rate, at least we won’t have to look at his orange face anymore.

He is obviously delighted to be leaving, though. He began his press conference by singing “Zip-a-dee-do-da,” a song whose second verse is “My oh my, what a wonderful day.

Later, a reporter asked him if he felt like he had a “weight off your shoulders.” Boehner replied:

“It’s a wonderful day.”
