The Republican Party Is Destroying Itself, And Blaming Donald Trump

Donald Trump’s surge appears to have left the other candidates in the dust. He has tapped into white Republican resentment and anger. Republicans who were hoping to send an all-inclusive message to LGBTs,  Asian-American and Hispanic voters are not happy with the message currently being sent. Donald Trump has also succeeded in insulting women in general.

Groups representing Hispanics are not happy with Donald Trump.

Hector Sanchez, who is with the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda, an umbrella group of organizations who urged NBC to cut ties with Donald Trump, also blasted what he calls, “a small, extremist, reactionary anti-immigrant group” within the Republican party. He called on other GOP presidential candidates to disavow Trump’s remarks and for him to apologize. Sanchez stated,

“The Latino community is tired of all these anti-Latino voices. If they want to win the presidency, they need to stay away from that.”

The Republican National Committee leaders agree with Hector Sanchez, and expressed their concerns in a “Republican party autopsy report” issued after the 2012 election.

“We need to campaign among Hispanic, black, Asian, and gay Americans and demonstrate we care about them, too. We must recruit more candidates who come from minority communities. But it is not just tone that counts. Policy always matters.”

The report added,

“There is growing unrest within the community of Republican women frustrated by the Party’s negative image among women, and the women who participated in our listening sessions contributed many constructive ideas of ways to improve our brand with women throughout the country and grow the ranks of influential female voices in the Republican Party.”

Apparently, the angry white males of the Republican party never got the memo. With Donald Trump’s increasing popularity, in part based on his genuineness, Republican candidates seem to be competing for the position of “most extreme” on issues such as birthright citizenship, the civil rights movement Black Lives Matter, and defunding Planned Parenthood the fastest.

KKK leader David Duke, believes Donald Trump to be the “best of the lot.” Two men from Boston claimed he “inspired” them to beat up a homeless Latino man. And even though Republicans argued voters were “tired” of hearing about the “war on women” in 2014, polling suggests otherwise, and that women are tired of being treated as second class citizens.

A Republican from Iowa said,

“He’s solidly put an anchor around the neck of our party, and we’ll
sink because of it,”

Not too surprisingly, the people supporting Trump also tend to support Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, and Breitbart.com, who angrily agree with Trump on many issues. Trump’s rise shows how much the Republican leadership differs with the Republican base on issues such as cutting Social Security, increasing immigration, and expanding free trade. The party base, like Trump, disagrees with the  goals of its leadership .

The Republican National Committee is just now starting to deal with the reality of Donald Trump as their candidate for President of the United States.
