GOP Stands For

With one Republican Party presidential hopeful after another expressing what they are against, it makes one wonder just what does the GOP stand for, and what world are these people living in? We know the GOP stands for more money for rich people. However, what are the driving ideas of the GOP other than being against things? What are the visions of the GOP for America?

Back in the 2012 race there wasn’t a clear message set forth by the GOP on what they were for while all we heard was what they were against. Thus far in 2016 nothing has changed. Moreover, with bombastic loud-mouth Donald Trump the current front runner, one can only assume the GOP stands for hate, racism, wealth inequality, war, and political polarization.

The Republican Party falls way short on specifics. They vehemently oppose Obamacare but offer no alternative. They are against the Iran Nuclear Deal and suggest war as the only substitute. GOP Stands for tax reduction right? Wrong. The GOP is for reducing the taxes on the 1 percent while raising the taxes on the Middle Class. As Liberal America reported in 2013 when the Republican-held North Carolina state legislature imposed a tax hike on its middle class to pay for a tax cut to the state’s millionaires.

One could argue that we never get specifics from Republicans running for office because, while popular with their rich campaign donors, they would spell doom with their often lowest common denominator voting base: the poor, uneducated white voters of the South. Let’s get real here, what wage earner who is making a minimum wage of $7.25 per hour would not be in favor of  raising that, no matter what the amount. The GOP has consistently voted against raising the minimum wage.

The GOP Stands For Supporting Our Troops

Frankly, the only thing the Republican Party supports is War for the Military Industrial Complex, and their private contractors.  The GOP has shown a complete disdain for supporting our Veterans who go and get their tails shot off and then come home needing long-term and often lifetime medical services. The GOP has repeatedly blocked bills that would expand healthcare and education programs for veterans.

To the casual observer of politics, it can be quite confusing. This confusion is counted on by the GOP. Why? When people start to pay attention in the General Election, the GOP Citizen United backed million dollar media echo chambers can fill the airways with distortions, and these confused people can be easily led to vote against their best interest.

However, people who follow politics know what the GOP stands for from their actions. The GOP parades itself as being anti-tax. Any review of a Republican’s lawmakers voting records on both the state and federal levels shows this is a falsehood. They are for cutting the taxes of the rich while increasing taxes off the backs of the working poor to pay for it. The GOP stands for small government. If this is the case why are the biggest takers from the big government they so demonize coming from the GOP run Red States.

There is one thing that is clear as a bell. The GOP stands for Pro-Life. However, after the fetus begins to breathe fresh air that all changes to “go fend for yourself, ” for the mom and her newborn. Just look at the recent attack on Planned Parenthood for all the confirmation you will ever need.

In closing, the one sure fire thing the GOP stands for is they are unanimous is their desire to make more money for their already wealthy campaign donors.
