Using chemicals, vandals in Palm Bay, Florida, burned a racist message into the front lawn of a black man, and the victim, Courtney Gordon, said he has a good idea who is responsible.

The message, in three-foot high letters, spelled out the word ni**er.

Gordon said he is upset and also embarrassed by the incident:

“I feel like this is a threat to me and my family, so I’m not too happy about it. You can see them slowing down when they go by my house, so everybody’s just driving by and reading it.”

Mr. Gordon also said he has a good idea who is responsible for the racist vandalism, but local police told him it will be nearly impossible to prove:

“I have a feeling of who done it. It’s like a group of them, and I leave them to God.”

As for whoever is behind the incident, Gordon said he considers them to be cowards:

“I’m a big guy, so they’re not going to come to me and say that. They did it like the way they did it, behind my back and at night. I feel that they’re a coward, because if they have an issue with me, it’s just best to come and speak to me, and not take it to a level as this.”

Should the vandalism be classified as a hate crime, the suspects, if caught, could face a higher level of charges and also be given harsher penalties.

Gordon is currently in the process of having new sod planted in his yard.
