Wings With A Side Of Racism: NJ Pizzeria Gives Woman Wings Fried ‘Hard Like A Black D**k’

An African-American woman who recently ordered wings at a Bridgeton, New Jersey, pizzeria, got her order, took it home, and was shocked to see what it said on the receipt. Here’s the receipt she found:

Loretta Smith Layne said she did indeed ask that her wings be “fried hard,” but the obscene words of racism on the receipt offended her, as they would anyone:

“I was very offended and upset and disrespected to get those words on a receipt.”

When a local TV station went to speak to the owner of  Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz, the owner’s son, who is a manager at the pizzeria, denied the receipt came from Danny’s Pizza and then directed the news crew to speak to his father, Danny Sommerling. Mr. Sommerling claimed that he too was unsure where the receipt came from.

Yet on the restaurant’s Facebook page, the elder Sommerling apologized for what he called his son’s actions and added it was “wrong and unexpectable” as well as “definitely not professional. He also went on to say that his son is not a bad kid, but a person who “just made a bad decision at that moment.” He assured Ms. Layne that his son is a “good boy” who “works hard and goes to school.”

But when NBC10 talked to Sommerling, he once again said there was no way to determine where the racist receipt had come from. And now he accuses Layne of attempting to blackmail him. Say what?! Does he have any evidence for this claim? If so, he has yet to provide it, and instead took to social media:

But if the receipt didn’t come from Danny’s, why in the world would Sommerling apologize in the first place? His logic seems more than a little flawed. And Mr. Sommerling further confuses matters with this post:

Ms. Layne remarked:

“He needs to realize what he’s done. It’s not acceptable. Not to me. And I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what I went through.”

As you might expect, the right wing trolls pounced all over this incident and got in line to cast aspersions on anyone who disagreed with them:

Here we go again: Let’s blame rap music and claim it gives a blanket protection to white people who want to use blatantly racist or sexist language. Sorry, but two wrongs don’t make a right.

But the real kicker on this story is this salient fact: Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz has now deleted their Facebook page. As if in doing so they can pretend nothing ever happened.
