A video has surfaced showing an elderly white woman in an International House of Pancakes (IHOP) restaurant losing her mind and taking her frustrations out on a woman upon hearing Spanish being spoken by another customer.

All together now: WTF?!

In the video, which was shot on a cell phone and posted to Facebook by Carlos Steven Baez, the white woman tells Baez’s mother, “We speak English here,” then adds:

“Go back to Spain.”

Baez’s mother remarks that she speaks English and tells the woman:

“I speak English, maybe not good.”

And then things get really weird. The complaining woman starts in on a harangue that makes little to no sense, invoking the Nazis and Russians:

“You want the Russians over here telling you what to do? You want the Nazis telling you what to do?”

How in the hell are the Russians and Nazis even remotely part of the debate?

Baez told the hateful, unidentified woman:

“That’s what you’re doing to my mom. You’re telling her what to do. She speaks English. She’s not perfect, but she speaks English.”

The ignorant woman then says:

“We want English in the United States. We have freedom of speech, you’re the proof of it. We want that freedom.”

Once again Baez reminds the woman that she is attempting to tell his mother what to do, which the woman has just decried. And the woman shoots back:

“Yes. We want English. We don’t want the Nazis back. We don’t want fascists back. We don’t want Castro back.”

The Nazis and Castro were once in the United States? I’m confused. But not nearly as confused as this racist, xenophobic woman who feels it’s her duty to shout at anyone who doesn’t speak perfect English.

Most people who commented on Baez’s post were suppportive of him and his mother, but one man, Glenn Price, wrote:

This is America. I have to go attempt to find translators for many differnent language speakers. I your going to live here, you should either have an interpretor know English. This customer was not treated wrong.”

If that’s the case, then you should also know how to spell, Mr. Price, and you clearly fail that test. You fail it miserably.
