Most of us think nothing about texting our loved ones while they are at work. I speak to my husband daily while he’s at work. Now, imagine?it being the last time you’ll ever hear you’re loved one. You’ve just said the last words you will ever be able to say. Caroline Dove is living that moment.
See, Dove’s boyfriend of 2 1/2 years was Lance Cpl. Squire Wells, 21 of Marietta, Ga. He was?one of the victims in the Chattanooga, Tennessee shooting on Thursday. They were texting back and forth about?her upcoming trip to come see him when he text two words that would devastatingly be the last words he’d ever be able to share with her.
“ACTIVE SHOOTER.”
She thought it was a joke responding, “You are so weird.” Who would?ever immediately think the worst? After several hours, she text, “I love you.” After no response for several hours more and the news?slowly rolling out from Chattanooga, she text, “Hon, I need you to answer me please.”
He never did.
The next day she found out he was one of the victims in the shooting spree.
