The GOP is having a wholesale tantrum.?Never mind that the Supreme Court’s ruling lifted the bars against same-sex marriage making it the law of the land. These Republican candidates are not going to do it, not going to do it, not going to do it!
The 2016 presidential campaign candidates are the worst. The court only ruled on same-sex marriage Friday, but the GOP responses are hitting the world hard.
Here is what they plan to do if they don’t get their way:
- Verbally abuse who they want to destroy
- Threaten to not follow the ruling
- Say they are protecting us, say our ?religious freedom?
- Try to undo the law ? over and over and over
In a pre-ruling pledge, Republicans agreed to disobey any high court ruling favoring marriage equality. Of course, that means they will break the marriage law – if they really do ignore the law. And yes, it is a law.
Let’s take a look at some of our favorite GOP candidates for 2016 and see what they are saying.
1. Candidates Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee
?We will not honor any decision by the Supreme Court which will force us to violate a clear biblical understanding of marriage as solely the union of one man and one woman.?
2. Huckabee On Twitter
??The Supreme Court can’t overrule God.?
3. Republican Senator Ted Cruz
The Supreme Court isn’t offering smorgesborg! But Cruz said about before the ruling ever happened,
?If the court tries to do this it will be rampant judicial activism. It will be lawlessness.?We will not honor any decision by the Supreme Court which will force us to violate a clear biblical understanding of marriage as solely the union of one man and one woman.??
4. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker
Governor Scott Walker seems concerned that the government is going to force them to get married to a same-sex partner. But Walker, I think you’re safe. He said,
?I call on the president and all governors to join me in reassuring millions of Americans that the government will not force them to participate in activities that violate their deeply held religious beliefs. No one wants to live in a country where the government coerces people to act in opposition to their conscience.??
?And they think this makes them look good… how?
