Limbaugh On Same-Sex Marriage Law Ruling: ‘Nobody In The Heterosexual World Is Forcing Anything On Anybody’

Upon learning of the SCOTUS ruling making the same-sex marriage law legal in all 50 states, George Takei gave an interview about the ruling, saying:

“Indeed, we see it as a challenge. It’s going to be a new challenge, but we are very mindful of that challenge that still remains.”

Rush Limbaugh was incensed, calling out liberals for not?displaying enough “happiness” over the win and continuing in the fight for legal equality in all aspects of LGBTQ life.

“I thought this meant that we were all in line and we were all together and there was just love breaking out all over the country, and I thought all that was at stake here was some people who were denied marriage because of their sexual orientation just wanted to be accepted. They just wanted to be included, and they want their dignity to be recognized, but it’s about much more than that, as you and I well know. It’s not about being accepted, it’s about forcing. It’s about redefining. The use of force is involved here.”

Limbaugh played more of Takei’s interview on his show, where Takei eloquently stated that:

“There are now these states that are going to try to use that shroud of religious freedom. I believe in religious freedom, and people who argue that are entitled to their freedom; but, they do not have the freedom to impose their religious values onto others.”

Limbaugh disagrees, using the most frustrating basis of argument.

“See, that’s what’s wrong with this. Nobody in the…I can’t believe I’m saying this…nobody in the heterosexual world is forcing anything on anybody. They’re minding their own business and having something forced on them.”

I couldn’t believe you were saying it, either, Rush.

“Minding your own business” does not include worrying about other people’s marriages that do not in any way affect your own. You aren’t being forced to accept same-sex marriage within your religious beliefs. Lord knows I don’t accept many of the things that you’ve done, Rush, within my religious beliefs. No one is forcing you to attend the wedding of a same-sex couple or to be gay. You still have all the legal rights you had the day before the ruling.

The only difference today is that George Takei has one of those rights, too, and yes, there are still many more fights to be won.
