Who would link the Charleston, S. C. massacre –?which?left nine people dead?– to an ?assault on our religious liberty?? Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Penn.), presidential candidate, of course.

There is a whole group of people who believe the world is about just them ? I call them the ?Me? people. And Santorum stands at the top of this unpleasant crowd.
The former senator started off his stop at Panora Telecom Solutions in Panora, Iowa pretty well. He called the incident?a ?crime of hate.? But he couldn’t let it go.
?You just can’t think that things like this can?happen in America. It’s obviously a crime of hate. Again, we don’t know the rationale, but what other rationale could there be? You’re sort of lost that somebody could walk into a Bible study in a church and indiscriminately kill people.?
But this is not about an assault on religious liberty. Christians everywhere do not need to run from their churches and hide under their beds. This is about an assault on black Americans.
Dylan Looked For Blacks
Dylan Roof confessed to his horrible crime. He specifically sought out an African American church for his bloody shooting rampage. It wasn’t a random choice. No. This is the oldest black church in South Carolina, well-known in historical downtown Charleston.
The former senator went into his anti-religious attitude?when he told New York radio host Joe Piscopo (AM 970):
?All you can do is pray for those and pray for our country. This is one of those situations where you just have to take a step back and say we ??you know, you talk about the importance of prayer in this time and we’re now seeing assaults on our religious liberty we’ve never seen before. It’s a time for deeper reflection beyond this horrible situation.?
Roof spat out racial slurs as he stood over the people while?their fatally wounded bodies leaked blood across the floor. The killer spent an hour with them before he began shooting them. He told the people that he had to do it, that black people were responsible for raping white women.
If this not about race, I don’t know what is.
