Totally Deaf Dog Learns Sign Language, Waits To Find His Forever Home

Gordon is a beautiful pit bull mix who was abandoned on the streets of London. Considering this fact, he has no reason at all to trust humans, and yet he still does.

This fantastic dog has a physical disability: He is totally deaf, and that fact?may be?keeping him from being adopted into his forever home.

Yet despite not being able to hear, the staff at the animal shelter have been teaching him sign language, and he is quickly learning to understand what is being said to him.

Eric Hugenberg, of The Mayhew Animal Home, commented:

“He responds by wagging his tail (very enthusiastically), jumps up to get more affection and pats on the head when he’s done something right like sit, stay or stand or walk.?He is very affectionate.”

The sign for Gordon to sit is a hand across the chest from his trainer:

And of course, like all good dogs, Gordon can shake hands:

Now Gordon just needs to find a loving home and owner who doesn’t mind a very special dog. As the animal shelter noted on their Facebook page:

“Gordon’s been at The Mayhew far too long now.?This intelligent, loving two year old is deaf as a post, but that doesn’t stop him kissing everyone and wagging his tail non-stop. Can you please please please share this and help Gordon find the home he deserves?”

It seems like the least we can do for this wonderful dog.
