Boulware began his attack on the Dallas PD building shortly after midnight this morning. Boulware, who was driving an armored van at the time, shot at police cars and planted bombs in a parking lot.

And we are now learning about the man behind this senseless attack. In 2013, Boulware was charged with attacking two members of his family. Police alleged that he choked his mother and physically assaulted an uncle before driving to his brother’s house with guns, ammunition, and body armor. Once he had fulfilled court-ordered conditions, these charges were dropped in 2014.

Looking at the police report from that incident, it becomes clear that Mr. Boulware was a troubled man. His mother told police that her son:

?Frequently talks to himself and appears delusional.?

Also in 2013, via an Internet “face time” call, Boulware?threatened to kill all of the adult members of his family, and also made unspecified threats against both churches and schools in Texas.

Another factor which may have contributed to Boulware’s state of mind is the recent loss of custody of his 11-year-old son, who was placed in the care?of Boulware’s mother.

Boulware has also written threats on the Facebook page belonging to a Dallas County judge. In that posting, Boulware mentioned conspiracy theories which involved?North Korea,?Russia, and the killing of Osama?Bin Laden.

After the incident this morning, Boulware’s mother told local media:

?We’ve been dealing with this for a long time. I’m glad nobody else was hurt.?
