Ben Moon is a photographer, and his best friend in the world used to be a very special dog named Denali.

Denali stayed with Moon in the hospital while Moon was undergoing cancer surgery in 2004. As Moon recalls:

“Denali never left my side during that intense year, and I was so grateful for his companionship and to the nurses who let him stay with me.”

Clearly, Denali more than earned the tag of “Man’s best friend.”

Not long ago, Denali, Ben Moon’s best friend, passed away. And as Moon so eloquently says:

“There’s no easy way to say goodbye to a friend. Especially when they’ve supported you through your darkest times.”

To pay tribute to Denali, Ben Moon made a short film that is told through the perspective of this wonderful pet. It won both the Best of Festival and People’s Choice awards when it premiered at the 5Point Film Festival.

Quoting the writer David Dudley, Moon likes to recall what we all see when we walk in and see a loyal, loving dog waiting for us when we return home:

“When someone you love walks through the door, even if it happens five times a day, you should go totally insane with joy.”

If you’ve ever loved a pet and lost them, this incredibly moving video will bring a smile to your face and tears to your eyes. It is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
