Obama And Biden Exemplify Brotherly Love – Bond Supersedes Politics

Brotherly love . . .

President Barack Obama and his Vice President Joe Biden exemplify brotherly love. Their bond supersedes politics. This relationship was put on public display at the recent funeral of?Vice President Biden’s eldest son, Beau Biden. Biden asked President Obama to deliver his son’s?eulogy, which Obama performed in his typical elegant fashion.

According to Bloomberg, aides for both men expressed that a strong bond has developed not only between the two men but their families as well.

This friendship is understandable.?As soon as they?had won the election in 2008, the Republican Party hierarchy were meeting in a smoke-filled backroom in a Georgetown tavern and?planning the demise of this leadership team. A demise fraught with?obstruction, sedition, and policies that led to the catch-phrase “just say no.”

Think about it. Two hard-fought political campaigns. A nation on the?edge of economic collapse resulting from what arguably could be the worst president in American history, George W.?Bush. An unfunded war with no end in sight and the viable threat of not just terrorism abroad but growing acts of domestic terrorism as well. The ever-escalating drama in the Middle East. Factor in the age-old epidemic of racism that gave birth to the Tea Party and the regression of civil rights, voter suppression, and gerrymandering.?Add a dash of social issues?such as?same-sex marriage and Obamacare. For these men to have?handled all these problems?in?the manner that?they have -?this bond was inevitable.

White House adviser Valerie Jarrett?described it best,

?People think of them as the president and vice president of the United States, but they’re human, and they’re in unique positions where there are very few people who can appreciate the nature of their responsibilities, it is far more than just a professional relationship; it is a very close friendship ?it has strengthened and grown over time. They certainly have shared their life experiences with one another, both painful loss and extraordinary happiness, just as all good friends do.??

Beau Biden was a rising star in the Democratic Party a “chip off the old block.” President Obama, describing Beau?as a “loving husband, father, veteran” who’seemed destined to follow in his father’s footsteps, finished his heartfelt message with the simple phrase – “He will be missed.”
