10 Quotes That Prove GOP Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum Is An Incredible Idiot

You may have heard that former Pennsylvania GOP Senator Rick Santorum announced his candidacy for the 2016 Republican Presidential nomination yesterday. Santorum also ran in 2012 and won 10 states in the primaries, which tells us much more about the GOP electorate than it does about Santorum himself.

So what say we take a look back at some of the craziest and most ridiculous quotes that have ever come from Santorum over the years? It was actually difficult to whittle this list down to just 10, because this asshat has said so many stupid things. But here are 10 of my personal favorites:

1. ??In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That’s not to pick on homosexuality. It’s not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be.?

Man on child?! Man on dog?! I think it might be time for Rick Santorum to see a psychiatrist if these are the kind of images running through his mind.

2.? ?[Gay marriage] is an issue just like 9-11…We didn’t decide we wanted to fight the war on terrorism because we wanted to. It was brought to us. And if not now, when? When the supreme courts in all the other states have succumbed to the Massachusetts version of the law??

How in the hell is same-sex marriage like 9-11? Did Osama bin Laden propose marriage to Rick Santorum? Are those dresses the Taliban is wearing? I cannot figure out this analogy. Maybe I need to retake the SAT exam.

3.?”The reason Social Security is in big trouble is we don’t have enough workers to support the retirees. Well, a third of all the young people in America are not in America today because of abortion.?

That’s so ridiculous that it makes my head hurt.

4.?”President Obama wants everybody in America to go to college. What a snob … Oh, I understand why he wants you to go to college. He wants to remake you in his image.?

God forbid we should become the best educated, most prepared nation in the world. What would other countries think of us then?

5.?We need a candidate who’s going to be a fighter for freedom. Who’s going to get up and make that the central theme in this race because it is the central theme in this race. I don’t care what the unemployment rate’s going to be. Doesn’t matter to me. My campaign doesn’t hinge on unemployment rates and growth rates. It’s something more foundational that’s going on.?

Yeah, who cares if the unemployment rate reaches double digits? Rick’s got better things to worry about. Like men on dogs.

6.??We will never have the media on our side, ever, in this country. We will never have the elite, smart people on our side.??

He’s right. Anyone with half a brain would never vote for him or any of his cronies. But I guess he can always cultivate the ignorant voters, i.e. the Republican base.

7.?”Is anyone saying same-sex couples can’t love each other? I love my children. I love my friends, my brother. Heck, I even love my mother-in-law. Should we call these relationships marriage, too?”

Hmm. Perhaps inbreeding among the Santorum family would explain the low level of rhetoric employed by Rick.

8. “Many of the Christian faith have said, well, that’s okay, contraception is okay. It’s not okay. It’s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.”

Why the obsession with sex, Rick? One gets the feeling it must your primary preoccupation.

9.? “I don’t want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else’s money; I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money.”

WTF?!

10.?”The idea that the Crusades and the fight of Christendom against Islam is somehow an aggression on our part is absolutely anti-historical. And that is what the perception is by the American Left who hates Christendom….What I’m talking about is onward American soldiers. What we’re talking about are core American values.”

Let’s see: the Crusades were about converting others to Christianity under penalty of death. Yes, including Muslims. Nothing aggressive about that. I’m surprised the crusaders weren’t welcomed with parades.

One good thing about Rick Santorum running for President yet again: We will have?many?more facepalm-inducing quotes to add to this list.
