Mandatory Ultrasound Imaging Is The Coolest Thing EVER!

Ever read something that just made you screw your face up and ask “What the…”? This did for me.

Governor Scott Walker thinks mandatory ultrasounds are “…just a cool thing.” According to Talking Points Memo, Walker shared his idea on “coolness” with Dana Loesch, a conservative radio host. In the interview, Walker was defending a bill he signed making ultrasound imaging a requirement for women planning on getting an abortion.

“The thing about that, the media tried to make that sound like that was a crazy idea. Most people I talk to, whether they’re pro-life or not, I find people all the time who’ll get out their iPhone and show me a picture of their grandkids’ ultrasound and how excited they are, so that’s a lovely thing. I think about my sons who are 19 and 20, and we still have their first ultrasounds. It’s just a cool thing out there.”

“We just knew if we signed that law, if we provided the information, that more people if they saw that unborn child would make a decision to protect and keep the life of that unborn child.”

You know Governor, ultrasounds ARE a cool thing, especially with the technological advances that have been made. I still have my ultrasounds from when I was pregnant with my son. I also chose to have my son. Hell, I even conceived him within marriage (which I”m sure somehow matters to Republicans). So yes, they are a cool thing for those who have chose to have a child.

But, I’m pretty sure the last thing a woman wants to see after being raped or molested is the fetus of what resulted from a traumatic experience. I wouldn’t know because I’ve never been in that situation; however, I feel safe in making that assumption. I will also safely assume that one of the hardest experiences for women who must receive an abortion for medical reasons is looking at the ultrasound of a child they can’t have without endangering the child’s or their own life.

But yea, no, totally cool. The only thing more cool than a forced ultrasound against your will is if it’s a transvaginal ultrasound against your will. Those are just the coolest of cool. That’s sarcasm by the way if you couldn’t tell. The last thing that is cool is signing an abortion law requiring women to submit their bodies for unneeded procedures.

One of my opinions on the elections is that Americans that are 30 years or younger must be motivated and moved to get up, leave their home, and vote. We’re pretty damn unhappy with the Republican policies that are placed (I’m in a Republican state). We have to be reached, and candidates must find a way of doing this. Referring to mandatory ultrasounds as “just a cool thing” only makes you look like an out of touch, middle-aged politician that may possibly be suffering from a midlife crisis (no offense to those who are suffering from one right now and have not taken a huge leap into the deep end of stupid).

Governor Walker, with all due respect, just stop and go away.
