Wacko Minister Franklin Graham Claims Ruth Bader Ginsburg Should Uphold Christian Beliefs On Same-Sex Marriage

In yet another instance of a well-known Christian attempting to force his religious beliefs on someone he disagrees with, Franklin Graham now claims that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg–who is Jewish–should abandon her faith and issue rulings based on the Christian view of the matter before the Court.

Graham, in a post on Facebook, urged his followers to pray for Justice Ginsburg so that her eyes:

“Would be opened to the truth of Scripture.”

The apparently clueless minister added:

?Today, let’s focus our prayers on Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who has served on the Court for over two decades. Those who support same-sex marriage consider her an ally in their fight to toss God’s Holy Word aside.?

No one is tossing anyone’s Holy Word away, Brother Graham. Instead, Justice Ginsburg will issue her opinion, along with the other eight justices, based on the United States Constitution, which is the law of the land. We don’t run this nation on Biblical law, we run it on a system of laws that were established over 200 years ago.

But Graham wasn’t quite finished pouring out his ignorant words of urging:

?As the Supreme Court continues to deliberate over the constitutionality of same-sex marriage, let’s pray that Justice Ginsburg’s eyes would be opened to the truth of Scripture and that she would not be deceived by the arguments of those who seek to impose their ?new morality? on our nation.?

While many visitors to Graham’s Facebook page agreed with him, others sought to tell him he was out of line:

?One point many fail to realize: Ginsburg is Jewish, not a Christian and therefore, her perspective will reflect her personal convictions.”

?This complete dismissal of her faith leads me to believe he thinks Jews should have no rights either.”

Saturday’s post by Graham was just the latest in a series of appeals he has made in which he urges prayer for specific Court members as they prepare to issue a final ruling on same-sex marriage later this year.

We can only hope–and pray–that the Lord will deliver us all from the ignorance and intolerance of hateful so-called Christians such as Franklin Graham.
