What A Fun Way To Waste Countless Hours Of Your Life – On Dan Howell of Course

Daniel (Dan) Howell is a 23 year old (almost 24) British male, popular for his YouTube personality ‘danisnotonfire. On this channel he posts everything from YouTuber tags to videos explaining his existential crisis stage. He has another channel, ‘danisnotinteresting‘ where he posts bonus videos, basically bloopers from his main channel videos.

He has been posting videos since the 16th of October, 2009. Even though I only started watching him late 2014, I’ve probably seen all of his videos twice. His first video, titled ‘HELLO INTERNET‘ has over 1,771,495 views (including the 50 or so times I’ve watched it). His exact words from when he reacted to three of his older videos in ‘Dan Reacts to His Old Videos were,

“I can’t watch this video, when I say I can’t watch this video I mean friends of mine deliberately play this to wind me up because I will leave the room if someone starts playing this. I find it so cringe worthy, so just appreciate what I’m doing for you here.” (Yes I played the video and paused it about 50 times getting exactly what he said referring to his first video.)

Now he has over 117 videos and roughly 4,697,792 subscribers. A portion of his videos contain Phil Lester, his best friend and flatmate (that’s roommate in America). Fun fact, Phil was actually the one who convinced Dan to start making videos.

Dan has a few series-type things he makes, one being Reasons why Dan’s a fail!, which he started back in 2009, and still continues to make them today. He also has The Story Of Dan…, where he explains his life from then to now. The Quarter-Life Crisis Trilogy consists of three videos, College Dropout being the first, explaining why he dropped out of his law degree he only pursued because he thought it would be a good and stable plan. The second being The Meaning Of Life, I honestly don’t even know how to describe this one. The last being Existential Crisis, where he states that he has been in the state of existential crisis meaning at random moments he just stops to question all humanity, pushes everything aside to lay on the ground and ask why life exists if everyone will die inevitably.

Dan has recently announced his upcoming book. He and Phil have been working very hard on it. The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire is now available for preorder on Amazon. The official release date is October 13, 2015 (I’m counting down the days).

Okay, obsessive Internet people chill out, I’m about to state an opinion. I really like Dan, he is always really down to earth to me and never seems superficial like other YouTubers CAN be. He also shows a bit of his awkward side which I can relate too, a lot. I’m glad I found a person who is very relatable that I can waste countless hours of my life on. Phil is the same way, very relatable and not very superficial.
