Black College Student Criminalized For Sitting In Waiting Room

Often I remark in my articles how conservatives tell blacks they need to pull themselves up by their “bootstraps” and go to college. They tell us we need to “work hard” and get an education, so everyone can become millionaires and get awesome paying jobs.

So year after year, hundreds of thousands of black men and women enroll in colleges across the United States. All of these black college students have the same goal in mind: to receive an education that will enable them to earn a good living. Many of these black college students tell stories of discrimination and criminalization on college campuses.

One story takes place on May 13, 2015. It involves a black college student attending Kennesaw State University in Georgia, by the name of Keven Bruce. He’s waiting in the “waiting area” to see his student adviser.

Abby Dawson, is identified as the female who confronts Bruce. Bruce is told by the Dawson that he needs to leave and that his sitting there waiting to talk to his adviser was harassment. This story is disturbing on many levels, but the irony of a student waiting to be advised on how he should navigate his educational goals only to be threatened and criminalized speaks volumes.

Now to be fair, we are not sure what happened before this video started recording. One can only speculate if there was a previous interaction between Bruce and the unidentified female in the video.

Here are two videos about the incident:
