Extremist Minister Says African-Americans Were Better Off Before Civil Rights

I don’t know if you’ve ever seen Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson during one of his many appearances on Fox News, but if you have, then you’ll know he can say some pretty ridiculous things. But he may have just sealed his place in the WTF Hall of Fame?with comments he made earlier today.

Peterson, who has his own radio show, was speaking to WorldNetDaily and promptly decided to discuss the recent unrest in Baltimore, saying black civil rights leaders today are:

?Worse than the Ku Klux Klan and skinheads combined.”

But he was just getting warmed up. Peterson then said African-Americans will only make progress when they:

?Overcome their false sense of victimhood and stop blaming whites.?Blacks are less independent. The black family unit, for the most part, has been destroyed. Blacks today are more dependent on government programs and handouts.”

Let me see if I have this correct: Reverend Peterson is suggesting that black Americans were better off before they had civil rights? Better off when they could not vote, could not serve on juries, and were subject to being lynched if they so much as said the wrong thing to a white person? Does he really believe this bullshit?

Near the end of his rant, Peterson added this morsel of tainted logic:

?Blacks need to get over their ?blackness? and become Americans rather than ?African-Americans.’ They must overcome their false sense of victimhood and stop blaming whites. They need to stop relying on the government and leaders so they can become independent and think for themselves.?

Wow! I thought I’d heard pretty much all there was to hear when it comes to the denial of the problems we face in America regarding race, but Jesse Lee Peterson elevates lack of comprehension, understanding, or sympathy to a new level.
