The Turtle? Mitch McConnell Finally Reveals How He Feels About His Nickname

We love to poke fun at Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY). Don’t get it twisted — we genuinely do not like him. That’s well documented. But when we call him The Turtle, it’s mostly in good fun. I think. But what does he think about it?

The Turtle?says he’s not offended at all. In an interview with CNBC’s John Harwood, McConnell was quick to point out that, after all, he was re-elected in the 2014 midterms. By double digits.?He said this:

?I ended up carrying 110 out of 120 counties,? McConnell told Harwood. ?I won by 15 points. And I beat a 35-year-old woman among women. I’ve been elected to the position I hold now by my colleagues unanimously multiple times. It’s nice to be approved by the people that count.?

And this:

?I’ve been elected to the position I hold now by my colleagues unanimously,? he said of his position as Senate majority leader. ?It’s nice to be approved [of] by the people that count.?

Specifically, Jon Stewart of The Daily Show challenged McConnell to prove he’s not?a?tortoise. When asked how he felt about it, The Turtle responded with:

?I loved it.”
