This video is of a court preceding from 1996 where a California man flips the script on the judge and district attorney trying him.

The video begins a with a the normal commencement of just another seemingly mundane legal hearing. The district attorney tries to get the judge to make the defendant wait until he has an attorney or at least sign some kind of document. The man refuses to sign anything and then things get interesting when the defendant, one Mr. Alexander, addresses the judge directly.

Although the legal talk is rather dry and boring, Alexander pulls a surprising move. He requests that the district attorney be placed under citizens arrest by the court! At first the district attorney chuckles at this seemingly absurd request. But his smile begins to fade when Alexander starts citing statutes and laws related to his motion. He even produces the correct paperwork, that he filed in order to bring up charges against the district attorney as well as other judges and officials.

An interesting thing happens; the district attorney starts to get very nervous and uneasy, as Alexander counters each argument with well researched legal arguments based on case law and statutes. Towards the end of the video the district attorney seems to be in a hurry to leave the court room as once again Mr. Alexander asks the judge to place him under arrest.

I don’t know what the original case was against Mr. Alexander, but by the end of that proceeding the judge had to take his motion very seriously. This is what happens when citizens become informed and use the law as their weapon against those who go against them.

The video never tells us anything about Mr. Alexander’s charges, but he managed to flip everything around and literally send the district attorney running for the hills! He went from a guy the district attorney was going to joke about to his colleagues, to a man who the D.A probably had to have some serious meetings with his bosses about! Citizen power at it’s finest.

Here’s the video, try to sit through?the dry legal talk — it will be well worth it.
