Texas GOP Lawmaker Says Violence In Baltimore Can Be Blamed On Gay Marriage

Just when I think I’ve heard just about every ridiculous and inane argument against same-sex marriage the Republicans can possibly pull out of their hats, a nimrod like Texas Congressman Bill Flores comes along and proves me wrong.

Just today, while appearing on the?Washington Watch?radio show–which is produced by the extremist anti-gay group the Family Research Council–Congressman Flores said the problems in Baltimore can be squarely blamed on same-sex marriage.

The host of the show, Tony Perkins (a true asshat in his own right), said the problems we see in America can be blamed on family disintegration:

?A lot of these problems are created by the breakdown of the family, which the redefinition of (marriage) would only accelerate.”

Flores had to go one better on Perkins and declare:

?You’re exactly right, Tony. Let’s talk about poverty for instance? The single best indicator of whether or not a child is going to be in poverty or not is whether or not they were raised by a two-parent household or a single-parent household. And so the breakdown of the family has contributed to poverty.?

But this bigoted pile of Texas bullcrap was far from finished, and he also rolled out this theory:

?You look at what’s going on in Baltimore today, you know, you see issues that are raised there,? the congressman continued. ?And healthy marriages are the ones between a man and a woman because they can have a healthy family and they can raise children in the way that’s best for their future, not only socially but psychologically, economically, from a health perspective. There’s just nothing like traditional marriage that does that.?

There’s also nothing like making false connections between two things that could not possibly be more different, Congressman Torres.

I suppose when the Supreme Court rules later this year–and if they legalize same-sex marriage, as expected–that will prove once and for all that unicorns can indeed fly.

Hey, makes as much sense and contains as much logic as what Torres says.
