God Is Not A White Man — A Black Woman Declares Freedom From Mind Slavery

I came across this video of a black woman who spoke words I had never heard a black woman say. She said God is not a white man.

This is a powerful statement, because since blacks were brought to America as slaves, we were taught otherwise, and “taught” is a very polite way of putting it.

Even in this day and age when black people have begun to believe in themselves, we are still stuck with the image of a white god. It is the biggest pimp-slap slave owners ever gave blacks. And they slapped blacks with a book they called the Holy Bible. This book taught blacks to be subservient to their “masters,” to obey them as they would God.

The woman in the video attacks this notion as well as the notion that the Bible is the word of God. She also attacks the chauvinistic leanings of the Bible. I’m sure she would probably look at the Qur’an in the same light. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t think she is an atheist, but she is far from a sheep following the church and/or it’s rich pastor. This woman has awakened her mind and began to question, began to seek reason and truth. As someone who has gone through a similar journey, I 100?percent understand where she’s coming from.

Unfortunately for her, she has now become a target. Because she has taken off the blinders and started to question, people will go after her. Especially black people, and especially black women.

I have come to believe that religion is the final chain of ignorance that holds people’s minds. Fear, Tradition, and Greed are the real trinity of the two major religions. People like to fit in, and be a part of the collective. It’s a place of safety. Where this woman is at right now is outside of the fire circle, it’s a cold place.

People fear being in that cold place, they also like the idea of promised rewards for obedience. You mix those three things together and you essentially have religion.

This especially holds true black people all over the world, because if they are Christian they are taught their god is a white man. I was not very popular in Bible study, because even then I would question the smallest details that they could not find an answer for. The default answer to a question they didn’t know was “pray on it.” That’s all they had to say.

Now personally I believe there is a God, but I don’t believe God is a white man. I’ve come to believe God is something we may never fully have the capacity to even imagine, and God does not care who we sleep with or how many times we pray to God.

There are those who believe God does not exist. I take no issue with that belief either. Personally I don’t think it matters, because I don’t think God cares what you believe. I think human beings are so self-centered that we think our creator spends every moment fixated on what we are thinking and doing. Maybe it’s time we started to realize, just as this woman has started to realize, that it’s not all about us, my fellow cupcakes.

Here is the video.
