Republicans are testing a new campaign strategy that’s sure to leave their constituents dizzy with joy! It’s called Punchout Campaigning, California GOP Rep. Steve Knight is pioneering this bold new campaign style. Recently Knight was confronted with a tea party protester?who accused him of supporting amnesty for illegal immigrants. The protester got a little too close for comfort prompting Knight to threaten?him:

“If you touch me again, I’ll drop your a–, all right?”

Tea party supporters?accused Knight of voting for amnesty, referring to the recent homeland security funding battle between Democrats and Republicans. Conservatives demanded that the annual legislation include provisions that would undermine President Obama’s executive actions. Those actions shielded millions of illegal immigrants from deportation. They wanted these provisions included before money would be provided to the agency.

To the chagrin of Republicans however, Senate Democrats managed to successfully filibuster the bill that tried?to undermine President Obama’s executive orders. House republicans, including Knight, finally gave in and passed a ?clean funding? bill that did not block the president’s executive orders. Knight told the protesters that he never voted to support Obama’s immigration policy, saying this:

“I never voted for amnesty. Never, ever,” he told them.

It’s too early to tell if the Republican Party?will adopt this new “punchout campaigning” strategy for 2016, but given the current field of candidates, the odds are very good!
