Worlds Greatest Promposal: Straight Man Asks His Gay BFF

Anthony Martinez is like any student at?Desert Oasis High School in Las Vegas, Nevada – except that he is gay. Martinez is a member of the student council and is?always planning dances, but never gets to go as nobody asks him – at least that was the story until now.

Martinez announced on twitter that a promposal came from someone quite unexpected. That person was his straight best friend Jacob Lescenski.

Here’s the photo:

For the promposal, Lescenski (wearing camouflage pants) made sure that this was a dance that Martinez could actually attend and not just plan.

Lescenski wanted to surprise Martinez after he saw that Martinez had tweeted that he was in search of a dance date. Lescenski also had this to say about Martinez,

?I decided on going to prom alone because my original date idea didn’t work out so well. Then one night I saw Anthony, who is my best friend, tweeting about wanting a date. So, I came up with the poster idea, asked my friend Mia to make it and asked him that next day ? It was a giant surprise to everyone, especially Anthony!?

But the story doesn’t end there, as Martinez, more than overjoyed, had this to say on tumblr,

?He’s my best friend, and a real man given the fact he has the guts to fulfill my gay student council dream of always helping out planning dances, and never getting asked. I couldn’t ask for a better person in my life[.]?Thank you Jacob, can’t wait for May 2nd!?

Needless to say, the promposal went viral on the internet and the original tweet with the banner is doing quite nicely with favorites and retweets.

While it may be a boy meet boy type scenario it has a very unique twist. The story is greater than just one friend helping out another. It’s one friend lending a?hand and making his best friend’s wish come true. If it’s not inspiring to you it’s at least adorable. It shows us how deep a friendship can go between people. I personally wish them all the best.

Note to?Conservatives:?Just because one guy who is gay is going to a dance with another male who isn’t gay, doesn’t mean that he will somehow turn gay and ruin the sanctity of dances and love.
