Yes, Thursday marked the official 10th birthday of the cultural phenomena we now cannot seem to live without. And if you’ve ever wondered what the first video ever uploaded to YouTube might have been, it’s ready for watching below this story.

Appropriately enough, the first video was made by?Jawed Karim, who founded the company with Steve Chen and Chad Hurley. In the inaugural video, Karim is at the San Diego Zoo and all he says in the next 18 seconds is:

“Cool thing about these guys is that they have really, really really long, um, trunks. And that’s cool. And that’s pretty much all there is to say.”

The title of the first video was, yes, you guessed it, “Me at the zoo.” And it shows you what has made YouTube such a huge success: it allows a person to post a video about pretty much anything you can imagine.

One last bit of YouTube history that you may have forgotten: it was bought for $1.6 billion in 2006 by Google.

And it shows absolutely no signs of slowing down anytime soon, if ever.

Watch “Me At The Zoo”?
