What Happens When A Few Hundred Bulldogs Show Up For A Party? Bullie Que!

I had no idea there was such a thing as the Bullie Que festival, but now that I know it exists, I want to start attending every year.

What is Bullie Que? Well, it’s an annual event held in North Carolina to benefit the bulldog rescue group Bullies 2 the Rescue, a non-profit dedicated to helping find homes for these “so-ugly-that-they’re-cute” (as my mother calls them) dogs which serve not only as wonderful pets, but also as the most recognizable mascot in FBS college football: UGA, the symbol of the University of Georgia, which also happens to be my alma mater.

April 11 marked the 4th Annual Bullie Que festival, and in addition to getting spoiled with all the attention, the 300 bulldogs also were served a meal fit for a king, featuring the following food, according to?Courtney Vaux, organizer of the event:

“Brisket, no seasoning.?Pineapple and green beans. It’s hysterical.”

The photographer for Bullie Que, Brian Batista, said the day is always a blast and also sang the praises of the bulldog breed:

“They love food, they love watching TV or wrestling in the floor, but mostly they love just being with their family. Oh and gas, you gotta love a dog who will fart on you and then move away like you did it, I love short-faced breeds. Not taking anything away from other breeds, but there is just something charming about them.”

Of course, at the end of the day, after all the delicious food, the games, the costumes, the devoted attention to one of the finest examples of Man’s Best Friend, a bulldog just needs one more thing: a nice long nap. And yeah, there were a few of those being taken, too.

See you next year. Woof, woof, woof!
