The interview was part of a revolving style promotional interview format. Interviewers had five minutes to ask Downey questions. ?The interview began very smoothly with Downey talking about his role in the movie.? But things started to get unpleasant very fast when Murthy decided to change the tone of the interview to a very personal one.

Murthy referenced comments made after serving time in prison, prompting a bewildered and confused Downey to ask,

?“Are we promoting a movie?”

Murthy continued to press Downey on some very personal details of his life, including questions about his past addiction issues. Murthy asked about “dark periods … taking drugs and drinking” and whether he was “free of all that.”

Downey replied,

?“I’m sorry, I really don’t … What are we doing?”

He?basically refused to play Murthy’s little game and in so many words told him, “I quit,” and abruptly left and went about his day making millions and putting the past where it belonged.

The interview aired April 22,?2015 on Britain’s Channel 4 News. Murthy also posted the interview on his Twitter feed, prompting righteous anger from his followers in the form of many angry comments criticizing his ethics.
