Tyrus Byrd is a former city clerk who recently won the mayor election in Parma, Missouri. However not everyone is celebrating the election of Parma’s first black mayor. It probably doesn’t help that the new mayor is a woman.

This kind of drastic change and dramatic mayor election may have been too much for some city employees. Just after her election on Tuesday, she found out that two full-time and three part-time police officers, as well as the city attorney and a water treatment supervisor, had turned in their resignations before she took office.

According to now former Mayor Randall Ramsey, who stepped down after 37 years in town hall which is over two terms, these city employees gave no prior notice.

Many residents of this small?town seem unconcerned about this unprofessional exodus by the police force. One resident said this:

?I think it was pretty dirty the way they all quit without giving her a chance,? resident Martha Miller said. ?But I don’t think they hurt the town by quitting, because who needs six police for 740 people??

Here’s is a video about this interesting mayor election.
