Robert Gates is a 72-year-old white insurance broker who until recently was a volunteer sheriff’s deputy in Oklahoma. On April 2nd, he was asked to participate in an undercover illegal gun sale sting. The suspect’s name was Eric Harris, age 44. Harris completed the gun sale and deputies moved in to arrest him.
The incident was recorded through an officer’s body camera. We see the officer tackle the man and proceed to arrest him. As other police officers hold him down and cuff him, Gates decides that he’s going to pull out his taser and?use it on?Harris while he’s already handcuffed. Except he pulls out the wrong weapon; he pulls out his service weapon and shoots Harris on the ground. Gates immediately apologize saying,
“Oh I shot him, I’m sorry!”
You can hear Harris screaming in pain:
“Oh my God he shot me, he shot me!”
You hear Harris complain that he can’t breath. And one of the arresting officers replies:
“F*CK YOUR BREATH!”
