Polamalu — a seasoned veteran known for long hair and hard hits — spent his career with the boys from Pittsburgh. Polamalu began the college to NFL journey?at the University of Southern California aka USC, then played for what are now the?Seattle Seahawks.

Before his entrance into the NFL, Polamalu was a consensus All-American in 2002 and two-time All-Pac-10.

Polamalu was the 16th overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft?and?was one of two players selected in the first round from USC, the other being Carson Palmer, who took first overall.

After the Pittsburgh Steelers nabbed Polamalu, his game took off. In his second year, Polamalu reached his first of 8 pro bowls with a five interceptions and 67 tackles.

In the ensuing ten seasons, Polamalu made seven?pro bowls. In addition, during Polamalu’s twelve seasons he made:

  • 5 player of the weeks
  • 2 Super Bowl rings
  • 5 All-Pro teams
  • AP Defensive player of the year (2010)
  • 8 Pro Bowls

It seemed like the list never ended for Troy Polamalu. Not only did he leave his mark on the NFL, he changed the strong safety position for the better.?There’s one thing for sure about Polamalu — there will never be another one like him.
