In a segment on “The Sean Hannity Show,” Rev. Jessie Lee Peterson and civil rights attorney Leo Terrell discussed the Walter Scott shooting.
For those who may not know, Walter Scott was shot in the back by a now former police officer Michael Slager, who is currently being charged for the murder of Scott. Video surfaced of the shooting from a concerned citizen after he followed the story and realized that Slager lied about what happened. The video not only shows Slager shooting Scott in the back, but it appears to show that Slager may have planted evidence close to Scott’s body to make it seem like he had taken his taser.
In the Hannity segment, Rev. Jessie Lee Peterson, who is an avid Tea Party supporter, began going off on tangents about “black on black crime.” It was clear that Terrell was getting more and more upset by the clear obfuscation by Peterson. Lee started to vocally challenge Peterson’s red herrings when Hannity admonished him to allow Peterson to finish his points. That’s when Lee threatened to walk off the show, saying:
“I’m not going to listen to this hate”
Hannity did manage to coax Terrell to stay for a few seconds longer, after agreeing that the shooting was unlawful and asking him a question regarding the legality of shooting a suspect in the back. As Lee began to answer, Peterson interrupted him and started another tangent. At that point Lee walked off the show declaring:
“I’m Done!”
