WATCH: Confronted By Iraq Veteran, Karl Rove Still Won’t Apologize For Failed War

It’s one thing to make a mistake, realize it, admit it, and move on. But some people–especially those who served in the George W. Bush White House–just cannot ever bring themselves to admit they were wrong, even when it’s so painfully obvious that they were. I refer specifically to the mistake of the Iraq War.

The latest to adamantly reject the reality of the situation is former Bush senior advisor Karl Rove. Rove was confronted by a student and Iraq War veteran at the University of Connecticut Tuesday evening. The vet,?Ryan Henowitz, asked Rove:

“Can you take responsibility and apologize for your decision in sending a generation to lose their humanity and deal with the horrors of war which you have never had the courage to face?”

Rove, as is so typical of neoconservative chickenhawks who dearly love to start wars they know they will never have to fight in, arrogantly replied with this:

“I appreciate your service, but I’m not going to apologize for our government doing the right thing in removing Saddam Hussein from power.”

No, of course not! Apologizing for that would leave Rove and his associates culpable for the senseless deaths of thousands of American servicemen and women and the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who have died, bled, and continue to reap the whirlwind of terror and death that have resulted from the war.

The young vet then told Rove:

?I saw my friends torn apart and Iraqi children screaming for their parents as indiscriminate shrapnel scarred them and us in ways that we will never know. We were exposed to more questions about life and death then any 20 year old should have. These scars stay with me and other veterans who are now one of the highest demographics to commit suicide at a rate of 22 suicides per day, and over thousands disabled.?

And in predictable, snakelike fashion, Rove then attempted to blame the deterioration of the situation in Iraq on, yep, you guessed it, the Obama Administration:

“We should be proud of what we were able to achieve in Iraq. And we should be sorry that we left them alone. Because when we left them, things deteriorated.?We should have stayed there like the Iraqis wanted us to. We would not have seen the rise of ISIS, we would not have seen the displacement of millions of people in the country.”

Yes, the favorite excuse of every right winger who still tries to defend the indefensible: If only we had done more, stayed, fought, died, and then died some more.

No matter how much blood you give these people, they always want more.
